[Also in Group XXXIV] A tapered roller bearing 4, 6 is mounted on a vehicle axle 1 by means of an interposed member 2 screwed on the axle. The inner race 4 is clamped between a shoulder 3, at one end of the member 2, and a ring 7 screwed on to the other end of the member 2. The member 2 is locked in position on the axle 1 by a washer 9 and lock-nut 10. The washer 9 has a tongue 11 which engages a slot 12 in the shaft and is thus prevented from rotating relative to the shaft. |
