<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a varistor or a capacitor made of at least one ceramic lamination body by constituting a raw ceramic lamination body made of at least two layers where each layer consists of a layer with a large connection agent concentration at the upper edge and treating the lamination body so that a particle diameter cannot be extended through a boundary between adjacent layers. CONSTITUTION: A varistor has a pair of electrodes 16, 16 with a first polarity and they are connected by a terminal region 17. Then, electrodes 18, 18 with an opposite polarity are connected by a terminal 19. The electrodes 16, 16 are separated from the electrodes 18, 18 by included dielectric layers 13-15. Then, breakdown occurs for the first time at the region of a particle 20 before occurring between particles 21 and then a region between the particles 21 becomes conductive before a region between particles 22. Therefore, the desired conductive characteristics of the varistor are limited to a current passage that is joined to the particle 20 and a particle such as the particle 21 in some cases, and a current conductive path is limited to a region with the minimum particle boundary to be included even if the varistor becomes conductive.</p> |
