PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having a backlight which uses both of an LED light source and a laser light source, can separately control temperatures of the light sources, and ensures a sufficient product service life while maintaining optical performances such as uniformity of illumination.SOLUTION: The backlight includes: a backlight chassis having a light-exiting face; a diffusion plate, a prism sheet and a reflection polarizing plate successively disposed as opposing to the light-exiting face of the backlight chassis; laser light sources disposed along one end face of the backlight chassis; LED light sources disposed along the other end face of the backlight chassis; laser light guide rods stretched into long rods to allow laser light from the laser light sources to propagate and to diffuse and emit the laser light into the backlight chassis; and LED light guide rods stretched into long rods to allow LED light from the LED light sources to propagate and to diffuse and emit the LED light into the backlight chassis. |
