An automatic fire extinguishing system, comprising: a canister having a central axis; an outlet port disposed on the canister; a nozzle manifold operatively coupled to the canister at a first end of the canister, the nozzle manifold in fluid communication with the outlet port and comprising a nozzle; a dip tube having dip tube side holes and disposed in the canister about the central axis and in partial fluid communication with the canister and coupled to the outlet port; a central rod extending longitudinally within the dip tube and the canister about the central axis; an electric actuator which after actuation is mechanically coupled to the central rod and configured to actuate translation of the central rod, the electric actuator operatively coupled to the canister proximate a second end of the canister; an internal ring coupled to the central rod within the dip tube, the internal ring configured to translate along the central axis from a closed condition of the automatic fire extinguishing system to an open condition of the automatic fire extinguishing system, wherein the internal ring is positioned to cover the dip tube side holes in the closed condition and positioned to uncover the dip tube side holes in the open condition; an inlet port coupled to the central rod at an axial location between the internal ring and the electric actuator, the inlet port comprising a plurality of inlet openings covered by a semi-permeable membrane; a propellant gas mixture disposed within the canister; a gaseous fire suppression agent disposed in the canister; and a dry powder fire suppression agent disposed in the dip tube, the dry powder fire suppression agent delivered to the outlet port at an initial stage of the open condition of the automatic fire extinguishing system.
