1. A surgical forceps, comprising:
a housing including a movable handle coupled thereto, the movable handle movable between an initial position and a compressed position; a shaft extending distally from the housing, the shaft including a bifurcated distal portion including first and second spaced-apart flanges defining a channel therebetween, each of the first and second flanges including an aperture and a slot defined therethrough, each aperture including a pivot pin mounted therein, the pivot pins disposed in opposing relation relative to one another with the channel disposed therebetween; a drive bar slidably disposed within the shaft, the drive bar operably coupled to the movable handle at a proximal end of the drive bar such that movement of the movable handle between the initial position and the compressed position effects longitudinal translation of the drive bar, the drive bar including a pair of cam pins mounted at a distal end thereof, each cam pin disposed within one of the slots of the bifurcated distal portion of the shaft, the cam pins disposed in opposing relation relative to one another on either side of the channel of the bifurcated distal portion of the shaft; and an end effector assembly including first and second jaw members, at least one of the first and second jaw members movable relative to the other between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween, each jaw member including a distal jaw portion and a proximal flange, the proximal flanges of the jaw members configured for positioning within the channel, each proximal flange defining a pivot aperture and a cam slot therethrough, each of the pivot apertures configured to releasably receive one of the pivot pins therein to pivotably engage the end effector assembly at the distal end of the shaft, each of the cam slots configured to releasably receive one of the cam pins therein to operably engage the end effector assembly to the drive bar such that movement of the movable handle between the initial position and the compressed position effects movement of the jaw members between the spaced-apart position and the approximated position. |
