The method for preheating annealing products (3, 4) in a hood-type annealing system having two annealing bases (1, 2) receiving the annealing products under a protective hood, is claimed. The annealing products to be subjected to a heat treatment are preheated in the protective hood by way of a gaseous heat transfer medium, which is circulated between the two protective hoods (7, 8), absorbs heat from annealing products heat-treated in the protective hood and dissipates the heat to the annealing products to be preheated in the other protective hood.
