A display apparatus is provided, including: an image processor which processes an image signal received from an image source according to a preset image processing process and displays an image on a display; an upgrade apparatus which upgrades the image processing process when connected to the display apparatus; a power supply which supplies power of the display apparatus; and a controller which controls the power supply to supply power to the upgrade apparatus through the connector before supplying power to the image processor in response to a determination that the upgrade apparatus is connected to the display apparatus.

1. A display apparatus comprising:
a display; a first image processor which processes an image signal received from an image source; a connector which provides a connection to an upgrade apparatus, wherein the upgrade apparatus comprises a second image processor which processes the image signal received from the image source, the second image processor being an upgraded image processor of the first image processor; a power supply which supplies power to the display apparatus; and a controller which, in a booting mode, controls the power supply to supply power to the first image processor and to the connector in sequence in response to a determination that the upgrade apparatus is not connected to the connector, and controls the power supply to supply power to the connector and to the first image processor in sequence in response to a determination that the upgrade apparatus is connected to the connector.
