PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of closing an opening to accommodate flap motion during a cruise portion of flight.SOLUTION: A mounted door 52 covers an opening 50 in a fuselage 44. A torque tube 78 extends through the opening and into the interior of the fuselage 44. A lower edge portion 82 of the opening 50 includes a sealing member 54. The sealing member 54 may extend around only a perimeter of the opening 50. The seal 54 provides a resilient surface for mating with the door 52. For example, the seal 54 may include a hollow structure capable of elastic deformation. The seal 54 may include a retaining part for attaching the seal to the fuselage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
