PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection circuit that enables a transistor to secure a wide operation range within a range of an area of safe operation.SOLUTION: A translinear circuit 4 generates an electric current proportional to a reciprocal of an electric current proportional to a between-collector-and-emitter voltage of a bipolar transistor to be protected. A detection circuit 5 emits a detection signal when an electric current, which is obtained by diverting an electric current, flowing to a load RL connected to the bipolar transistor to be protected, at a constant rate, is greater than the electric current generated by the translinear circuit 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
