PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a method for processing the transmission of an image data signal with which it is possible to suppress a reduction in display quality and an increase in power consumption.SOLUTION: A transmission image data signal including an encoded data block in which error correction encode processing is applied to the series of pixel data fragments in input image data and a representative pixel data group including three pixel data fragments corresponding to red, green, and blue colors in this series of pixel data fragments is transmitted to the driver of a display panel. On the driver side, the series of pixel data fragments obtained by applying error correction processing to the transmission image data signal is converted to a pixel drive voltage which is then applied to the display panel. At this time, if pixels on one horizontal scan line are the same color, error correction processing such as stated above is not applied on the driver side, and the representative pixel data group included in the transmission image data signal is converted to the pixel drive voltage which is then applied to the display panel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
