PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and robustly detect a character from an image.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, an information processing device identifies the way of deformation of the apparent shape of a character in an input image on the basis of an acquired elevation value. The information processing device stores a plurality of character detection dictionaries corresponding to the variously deformed apparent shapes of characters. When the way of the apparent shape of a character in the input image is specified, the information processing device selects a character detection dictionary corresponding to the specified apparent shape of the character. The information processing device executes character detection processing on the input image by using the selected character detection dictionary and detects an area where a character in the image is present.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
