PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and a character edition method, capable of improving flexibility in an edition operation for a character included in a manuscript image.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus: reads image data from a manuscript (step S11); and based on the read image data, performs character recognition processing for recognizing a character included in the manuscript image (step S12);displays the character recognized in the character recognition processing together with the manuscript image in overlay on a front side of a character image corresponding to a character included in the manuscript image (step S13); and edits a display mode of the character according to an edition operation targetting the displayed character (step S17).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
