摘要 The present invention relates to a waterproofing method for a radio inlet opening portion of a radio telescope. According to the conventional art, a functional fiber such as Gore-Tex is used for a waterproofing of a vertex window that is formed as an opening portion in a central portion of a reflective plate for installation of a radio receiver of a radio telescope or the like. This causes the functional fiber such as the Gore-Tex to be torn by a strong wind or be stretched by water stagnation while in use. In addition, the wind causes the fiber to flutter and results in a standing wave, which causes a received radio wave to be mixed with noise and hinders accurate detection. According to the present invention, Styrofoam is used instead of the functional fiber such as Gore-Tex. Accordingly, the stretch and fluttering do not occur and the occurrence of the standing wave is prevented so that accurate measurement can become possible. In addition, installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance can be facilitated while overall radio telescope installation and maintenance costs can be reduced.
