PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of an aluminum oxide film having excellent adhesion to a base material and a good formation state of an oxide in coating film formation using a composition for forming an aluminum oxide film coating obtained by the partial hydrolysis of an organic aluminum compound.SOLUTION: In a production method of an aluminum oxide film: a composition containing a partial hydrolysate obtained by partial hydrolysis where water is added into a solution dissolving an organic aluminum compound expressed as general formula (1) into an organic solvent at a molar ratio of 0.40-1.30 to the organic aluminum compound is coated on the surface of a base material under an inert gas atmosphere; and an obtained coating object is heated at 400°C or lower (in the formula, Ris hydrogen or a 1-4C straight chain or branched alkyl group; and Rand Rare independently hydrogen, a 1-4C straight chain or branched alkyl group and a 1-7C straight chain or branched alkoxyl group, an acyloxy group or an acetylacetonate group).SELECTED DRAWING: None
