PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ingot preheating apparatus capable of heating an ingot material in an optimum heating condition.SOLUTION: An ingot preheating apparatus 1 comprises: a heater 17 that heats an aluminum ingot serving as an ingot material; a thickness-measuring laser sensor 30 that measures the thickness of the aluminum ingot 2; and a control unit 19 that controls a heating condition for the heater 17 on the basis of a measurement result from the thickness-measuring laser sensor 30. Since the control unit 19 can control the heating condition for the heater 17 on the basis of the measurement result from the thickness-measuring laser sensor 30, it is possible to suppress the erosion of a thin part on the aluminum ingot 2 and the insufficient heating of a thick part thereon as compared with a conventional technique for controlling the heating condition for the heater 17 on the basis of the weight of the aluminum ingot 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
