PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an image from a set of images so that an event or era is not biased.SOLUTION: An image selection device comprises: period division means that divides a picture-taking time range of a set of images into a plurality of periods; category classification means that classifies the images into categories; required number-of-images determination means that determines the number of required images relative to the sub-divided period divided by the period division means; and image selection means that selects the image so that the category is not biased from the images in each sub-divided period divided by the period division means on the basis of the number of the images determined by the required number-of-images determination means. Accordingly, the image is automatically selected so that an event is not biased in the set period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
