PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser welding apparatus and a welding method thereof for enabling stable supply of a filler wire and the welding with reduced welding defects.SOLUTION: There is provided a laser welding apparatus 1 for relatively moving a laser beam radiated to an object to be irradiated while making the laser beam weave, and performing the welding. The laser welding apparatus includes: an optical system 10 for periodically changing an optical path of the laser beam from a laser source, and thus periodically moving the laser beam on the object to be irradiated; movement means for relatively moving the laser beam with respect to the object to be irradiated; a wire supplier 21 for supplying a filler wire 22 over the object to be irradiated; and a wire supply controller 30 for calculating a position where the filler wire is to be supplied, and attitude of the filler wire, and controlling the wire supplier. The optical system includes a light receiving optical system for branching the laser beam returning from the object to be irradiated, toward a direction different from a direction of the laser source, and measuring light intensity. The wire supply controller acquires the change in the light intensity from the light receiving optical system, along the periodic movement of the laser beam, and calculating the position where the filler wire is to be supplied along the weaving and the attitude of the filler wire.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
