PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-based ink for inkjet recording excellent in fixability and initial ejection property on not only normal paper, but also recording media with low water absorption property while maintaining image density, and an inkjet recording method using the water-based ink.SOLUTION: There is provided the water-based ink for inkjet recording which contains a water insoluble polymer particle A containing a pigment, a water insoluble polymer particle B, an organic solvent C, a nonionic surfactant D and water, and in which the pigment is carbon black having DBP (Dibutyl phthalate) oil absorption amount of 30 ml to 140 ml per 100 g, the content the water insoluble polymer powder A containing the pigment is 2.0 mass% to 10 mass%, the content of the water insoluble polymer powder B is 0.8 mass% to 5.0 mass%, the organic solvent C contains one or more kind of organic solvent having a boiling point of 90°C or more, the boiling point of the organic solvent C is 260°C or less as a weighted average value obtained by weighting with contents (mass%) of each organic solvent, the content of the organic solvent C is 23 mass% to 42 mass% and the content of the nonionic surfactant D is 1.5 mass% to 5.0 mass%.
