PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with a simple structure that can smoothly guide a recording medium, irrespective of its type, to a double-side transport passage and that can prevent occurrence of a jam during double-sided printing.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image forming section; a discharge part; a recording medium transport passage connecting between the discharge part and the image forming section; and a reverse transport passage formed by branching off a curved portion of the recording medium transport passage, and connected to an upstream side of the image forming section. On a transport surface of an inner corner side of the curved portion in the recording medium transport passage where the reverse transport passage branches, there are provided first transport guides supported so as to be swingable in a direction protruding or retracting relative to the transport surface, and second transport guides fixed to the transport surface. The first transport guide is arranged selectively either in a first position where it protrudes farther into the recording medium transport passage than a guide rib formed on the second transport guide or in a second position where its maximum protruding height from the transport surface is equal to that of the guide rib or where it is retracted farther toward the transport surface than the guide rib.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
