PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, manufactured such that the generation of wastewater is suppressed while water-based coating processing is performed to increase a coating effect, and a manufacturing method of the positive electrode active material, and also to provide a lithium secondary battery improved in charge/discharge cycle life.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery which includes a lithium manganese-based oxide core and a coating layer located on the surface of the core. The coating layer includes a fine particle containing a zirconium compound, or a zirconium compound and a fluoride compound. The lithium manganese-based oxide is represented by LiMnMO, where M represents at least one selected from among boron (B), aluminum (Al), magnesium (Mg) and transition metal, x satisfies 0≤x<0.1, and y satisfies 0≤y<0.3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
