PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time required from start to completion of recording operation, and secure good recording quality.SOLUTION: A printer 100, when a temperature of an impact print head 102 reaches a specified temperature at which printing should be stopped during recording operation, interrupts the recording operation in progress on the basis of output values from a thermistor; makes the impact print head 102 move reciprocatingly while adjusting a relative positional relation between the impact print head 102 and a recording medium P so that the impact print head 102 and the recording medium P are in a non-overlapping positional relation in a sub-scanning direction; and when the temperature of the impact print head 102 falls below the specified temperature at which the printing should be resumed during the reciprocate movement, adjusts the positional relation between the impact print head 102 and the recording medium P, and resumes the interrupted recording operation in progress, so that the positional relation for resuming recording is made based on a position at which the recording operation in progress is interrupted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
