The present invention relates to a fuel cell (10). The fuel cell (10) includes: a membrane electrode assembly (110); a porous member (170) having a first surface (171) disposed by facing the cathode side of the membrane electrode assembly, a second surface (172) and an edge surface portion (173), wherein the edge surface portion is positioned between the edge portion (171UE) of the first surface and the edge portion (172UE) of the second portion; a sealing plate (180) disposed along the edge portion of the first surface; and a separator plate (150) disposed on the second surface. The porous member supplies an oxidant gas to the membrane electrode assembly through the first surface and discharges oxidant exhaust gas to the outlet portion of the fuel cell through the edge surface portion, and the first surface has a first region (171UA) facing the sealing plate, and the second surface has a second region (172UA). The first region is positioned between the sealing plate and the second region, and the hydrophilicity of the first region is different from that of the second region. |
