摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matrix converter, a controller for the matrix converter, and a control method for the matrix converter capable of suppressing increase in a power loss generated at a bidirectional switch.SOLUTION: A matrix converter according to an embodiment comprises a selection unit, a commutation control unit, a determination unit, and a condition change unit. The selection unit selects one commutation pattern from a plurality of types of commutation patterns, on the basis of at least any one of a state of phase voltage of an AC power supply and a state of phase current of a load. The commutation control unit performs commutation control of switching a state of connection with the AC power supply and the load, by controlling the bidirectional switch using the commutation pattern selected by the selection unit. The determination unit determines the bidirectional switch's power loss generated by the commutation control. The condition change unit changes, on the basis of the power loss determined by the determination unit, a commutation pattern to be a selection target of the selection unit or a selection condition for the commutation pattern.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
