PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a lightning protection system for use in an aircraft.SOLUTION: The method has a configuration of at least one layer of electrically conductive material 210 to be applied to a component 200 of the aircraft. The configuration is selected as a function of a level of lightning protection to be provided thereto. The method also includes applying the at least one layer of electrically conductive material 210 to the component 200 with an additive manufacturing technique.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
