Provided are an automatic tissue dyeing apparatus and an automatic tissue dyeing method, which are capable of performing treatment in an accurate treatment time without any inconvenience. The automatic tissue dyeing apparatus comprises: a supply head for supplying treating fluid; a horizontal movable part for horizontally moving the supply head; and a holding part for holding a plurality of slide glasses on which a sample is mounted. The automatic tissue dyeing apparatus also comprises a control part which: determines the occupied state of the horizontal movable part before the treating fluid is supplied from the supply head to a sample on one or more slide glasses positioned in a first region when the one or more slide glasses are positioned in the first region; holds the start of the treatment of the sample on the one or more slide glasses positioned in the first region when the horizontal movable part is in an occupying state; and allows the treatment of the sample on the one or more slide glasses positioned in the first region when the horizontal movable part is not in an occupying state.
