PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for forming a metal rod which manufactures an ingot formed of noble metal especially such as gold and silver, a noble metal alloy, other pure metal, and various alloys.SOLUTION: A machine includes an ingot mold 1 and a lid for closing the ingot mold after filling the ingot mold. The ingot mold 1 has a height dimension by which a cover 4 passes from a first position to a second position when a volume occupied by a mass of metal for filling the ingot mold gradually decreases to 1/3 of an initial solid volume. In the first position, the cover 4 is placed on the metal for filling the ingot mold 1 so as to uniformly compress powder, grains, or a cut end by pressing a bottom part of the cover 4, and the cover is kept in a high position to a receiving surface of an edge part of the ingot mold 1. During a melting step, the cover 4 in the second position gradually descends as the metal is molten until the cover 4 is placed on the receiving surface, tightly seals and closes the ingot mold 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
