The present invention relates to a vinyl chloride-based polymer having a superb thermal stability due to suppression of heat- or ultraviolet light-induced hydrochlorination, and a method for producing the vinyl chloride-based polymer. The production method utilizing mass-polymerization according the present invention adds a modifier to the polymer, and thus can impart high thermal stability without causing deformation in the vinyl chloride-based polymer. Therefore, the production method utilizing mass-polymerization of vinyl chloride-based polymer according to the present invention and vinyl chloride-based polymer produced thereby can be easily utilized in industries needing vinyl chloride-based polymers, such as industries associated with vinyl chloride-based resins and molded products.
