The present invention relates to a method for preparing an extracorporeal blood circuit (2000) for its use in a blood treatment procedure carried out on a patient by means of a blood treatment device (1000) and by means of a blood treatment arrangement (3000) which has a blood chamber (51) and a dialysis liquid chamber (53) separated from the latter by means of a membrane (55), with the step of: filling the extracorporeal blood circuit (2000) by means of a priming solution, wherein the priming solution has citrate, or filling the extracorporeal blood circuit (2000) by means of a priming solution and by means of a citrate solution. The invention further relates to devices suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention.
