Disclosed is a continuously variable transmission for a vehicle. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the continuously variable transmission for a vehicle of the present invention comprises: an input shaft into which the rotational power of the engine is entered; a first power transfer shaft placed to be parallel to the input shaft with a certain interval; a continuously variable transmission unit for performing a continuously variable transmission of the rotational power of the input shaft by driving a belt to convey the power to the first power transfer shaft; a second power transfer shaft placed on the same axis with the first power transfer shaft to selectively receive the rotational power of the first power transfer shaft; a third power transfer shaft placed on the same axis with the second power transfer shaft; a planetary gear set placed in between the second power transfer shaft and the third power transfer shaft; an idle gear set placed in between the input shaft and a rotary element of the planetary gear set; and an output gear set for conveying the rotational power conveyed from the third power transfer shaft to the differential.
