A captive pivot system is provided for mounting a frameless glass-panelled pivot shower Joor onto a shower head of an extruded, aluminium-framed shower enclosure and has when in tailed, two plastic pivot blocks vertically-linked by a metal pivot pin, a first block is a rectang lar-shaped, upper pivot pin base block wjth a central hole which extends axially comple ely through the block which is internally stepped downwards from the top of a wide diamete r upper portion of the hole to the bottom of a narrow-diameter lower portion; the pin has a flang d top which, during installation, is positioned top-facing-upwards within the wide diameter upper portion of the central hole, the pin's shaft is designed to pass completely through the first block and project from its convex bottom surface; an exposed lower part of the pin is barbed for force-fitting into an upwardly-facing central hole in an upwardly-facing concave surface of a triangular second plastic block to extend partway into it; the second block is a combination door glass panel clamp, hinge and pivot block pre-mounted over a top edge of a glass l oor panel and fits below the first block and once the first block is fixed to the head channel the pin is held captive for rotational movements and limited vertical movements within the co fines of the first block (and head channel) and is fixed within the second (or lower) block and r tates with the second block and moves up and down when a door is opened or closed but is limited in its drop-down vertical travel to thereby prevent the top of the shower door from fallin out of the shower enclosure head fixed cross frame member when excessive force is appli d to an installed door. 14a 15a fA 15c |
