A control mechanism and method using RGB (red-green-blue) light emitting diodes (LEDs) are disclosed. A particular embodiment includes: a red-green-blue (RGB) light emitting diode (LED) having a plurality of color components, each color component being either active or inactive; and an input controller coupled to each of the plurality of color components to determine a voltage level thereon, the input controller being configured to detect a voltage change in an inactive color component when light from an active color component is reflected off of a proximate object. |
