The invention relates to a method for producing a two-component or multi-component foam for filling cavities or moulding units or bodies with foam. Each component is dosed by means of at least one electromechanically driven volumetric-plunger dosing unit as the dosing element (2) and for the circulation of each component, the component is delivered at least to the dosing element and/or past the dosing element. During the circulation the dosing element is set to have a fillable capacity of between 0% and 30%, before application the component is delivered to the dosing element in order to fill said element and for the application the delivery of the component at least to the dosing element is interrupted and the component is delivered to the mixing head by the emptying of the dosing element.
