The invention relates to a lower shell (3) for a housing (2) of a mobile communication device (1), comprising a rear wall part (10) with an inner surface (11), which can be turned towards an upper shell (4), and an outer surface (12), and also left, right, upper, and lower lateral walls (13 to 16) arranged on the rear wall part (10), and at least one first latching means (7). At least one receiving chamber (18) for receiving an object is arranged on the rear wall part (10) in the region of the inner surface (11) of the rear wall part. The receiving chamber (18) is peripherally delimited by rib-like webs (19) and can be accessed from the outside via a receiving opening (21). An intermediate plate (17) is arranged at a distance from the inner surface (11) of the rear wall part (10) and is arranged so as to rest on long edge surfaces (20) of the rib-like webs (19).
