Provided is an aqueous ink composition for writing implements which, while having low viscosity, demonstrates excellent particle storage stability, writing performance over time, skip-free performance, and line quality compared to conventional thickening or gelling agents such as xantham gum. An example of the aqueous ink composition for writing implements includes a composition that comprises 0.05 to 1.5 mass% of oxidized cellulose, has an intrinsic viscosity value derived from the Casson equation of 16 mPa∙s or less, a viscosity value at a shear rate of 3.83 s-1 of 100 to 3000 mPa∙s, and a viscosity value at a shear rate of 383 s-1 of 10 to 40 mPa∙s. |
