PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine in which a tumble flow is formed in each cylinder, and which can enhance the tumble flow.SOLUTION: In the present invention, an upper wall surface of an intake port extends generally linearly in an oblique direction with respect to an intake port-side ceiling surface of a combustion chamber so as to be continuous to an upstream end portion of an intake-port valve abutment surface formed in an opening portion of the intake port open to the combustion chamber in an upstream portion of the valve abutment surface. A cross-section of the portion of the intake port in a direction perpendicular to an axial direction of the intake port has a flat shape the major axis of which is in a lateral direction thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
