Provided is a square fabric spreading apparatus such that opening and closing operations in a suction mechanism are made faster, suction efficiency is improved, and wear is less likely to occur. The square fabric spreading apparatus comprises: a stretching device that pulls and stretches an upper edge of a square fabric laterally; a passing device that holds the upper edge of the stretched square fabric in an advanced position and retracts so as to pass the same to a vacuum conveyor (60); a suction duct (61) that creates a negative pressure in the vacuum conveyor (60); a shaping duct (65) that sucks the lower part of the square fabric held in the advanced position downward; a flow channel switching chamber (66) that is interposed between a blower (62) and the suction duct (61) and shaping duct (65); and a damper (67) that switches flow channels in the flow channel switching chamber (66), the switching operation of the damper (67) being controlled by a motor. Compared with the prior art, operating time is reduced, suction efficiency of the suction mechanism is improved, and shaping, such as dewrinkling, of square fabrics and feeding with the conveyor (60) can be performed reliably. |
