The present invention relates to the field of STMs for PTN devices. Disclosed are an STM-1 access link protection system and method for a PTN device. The system comprises an Ethernet OAM monitoring sub-unit, a cross protection sub-unit, a synchronous transfer Ethernet interface and a synchronous transfer OAM monitoring sub-unit; the Ethernet OAM monitoring sub-unit is used to trigger the cross protection sub-unit to activate an MSP protection mechanism when detecting an Ethernet link signal loss LINK_LOS alert, or a media access control layer MAC frame check and error threshold-crossing FCS_EXC alert; the synchronous transmission OAM monitoring sub-unit is used to monitor an Ethernet alert, and insert a multiplex section accident indication signal MS-AIS alert.
