The invention relates to an overvoltage protection assembly, comprising: a short-circuiting device, which comprises two opposite contact electrodes, which, being under mechanical preload, can perform relative motion in relation to each other with the assistance of spring force in the event of a short circuit, wherein a sacrificial element is provided as a spacer between the contact electrodes, which sacrificial element, in accordance with thermal influence and/or current flow, allows the relative motion of the contact electrodes; a metal housing, which accommodates the contact electrodes and the sacrificial element; and connections located on the housing or fed through the housing. According to the invention, the housing is an at least two-part housing, at least a first and a second chamber being formed, wherein the movable, spring-force-assisted contact electrode is arranged in the first chamber and the fixed contact electrode forms the partition between the first and the second chamber, and furthermore a surge arrester, which has a contact plate on the side of the surge arrester facing the partition, is arranged in the second chamber, wherein the sacrificial element is located between said contact plate and the movable contact electrode and in this regard the partition has a through-hole matched to the dimensions of the sacrificial element. |
