Disclosed is a method of improving the RF/microwave recovery of organic substrate treatment solvent from an organic substrate (particularly dry lumber), the method including the steps of; (i) treating the organic substrate with a composition including: a) an organic substance treatment compound (e.g. azole compounds (like tebuconazole etc.), sub-micron copper, or alternatively any compound such as a resin, a polymer, monomer/pre-polymeric material that can alter the physical properties of the substrate), b) an organic substance treatment solvent (such as Stoddard solvent, chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, low molecular weight hydrocarbon solvents, oils, aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, low polarity ether or ketone solvents including acetone etc.), and c) a dielectric loss enhancing additive (preferably selected from a highly polar organic solvent selected from water, N-methylpyrrolidone, dimethylsulphoxide, dimethylformamide, ethanol, 1-propanol, ethylene glycol etc.); and (ii) recovering the solvent using RF (microwave) energy at any suitable frequency. |
