The present invention relates to a punching apparatus of a multifunction laser printer, which performs printing or copying using a drum provided in a drum cover and dispenses printed or copied papers to a user through a conveyor line including a transfer plate, a transfer roller, and the like. The punching apparatus of a multifunction laser printer comprises: an input unit as an interface enabling a user to input a punching location and a punching size of a printing paper or a copying paper; a paper location sensor provided to be adjacent to a discharge space of the drum cover from which a printed or copied paper passing through the drum is discharged to detect the location of the discharged printed or copied paper; a transfer unit provided on one side of the drum cover to move a punching unit; the punching unit provided on one side of the transfer unit, moving in a direction horizontal to a direction in which a printed or copied paper is discharged through the discharge space of the drum cover by operations of the transfer unit, and punching a hole in the discharged printed or copied paper through being shifted in a vertical direction; a power distribution unit supplying power to the transfer unit and the punching unit; and a control unit controlling an amount of power supplied by the power distribution unit to operate the transfer unit based on information on a punching location received from the input unit to move the punching unit, controlling a punching size of the punching unit based on information on the punching size received by the input unit, and controlling the punching unit to punch a certain hole in a printed or copied paper when the paper location sensor determines that the printed or copied paper discharged through the discharge space reaches a location in which the printed or copied paper will be punched. Therefore, the punching apparatus of a multifunction laser printer may enable the intensive use of space in disposing components in a case of the multifunction laser printer. |
