The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for monitoring an image. The disclosed image monitoring method comprises the following steps: setting a unit cell size corresponding to an object to be monitored; dividing an image in accordance with the set unit cell size, and partitioning the same into a plurality of cells; and extracting movement information of the object to be monitored from a plurality of image frames, and generating property information including one or more among entry time, inroad time, or inroad direction by each cell. Therefore, the method can provide fast searching in an intelligent image control system which uses a relational database having the property information stored therein, and provide efficiency of acquiring a preferred searching result without occupying an additional computing resource though a lot of data is recorded in the database. |
