PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-speed and accurate beam forming without performing approximation calculation.SOLUTION: A beam forming method includes: a step (a) of receiving undulation arriving from a measurement object with a reception aperture element and generating a reception signal; and a step (b) of performing beam forming processing by applying Fourier translation and wave number matching to the reception signal. The step (b) includes: performing wave number matching in the lateral direction by multiplying a value obtained by applying Fourier translation to the reception signal in the axial direction by a complex exponential function represented by the number of waves and imaginary unit of the undulation; applying Fourier translation to the product in the lateral direction; performing wave number matching in the axial direction by multiplying the obtained calculation result by a first complex exponential function and at the same time multiplying it by a second complex exponential function; and thereby directly generating an image signal in the Cartesian coordinate system by performing wave number matching without interpolation approximation processing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
