A control method for cleaning a filter assembly of a washing machine, the method comprising: according to a preset program, determining whether it is necessary to clean the filter assembly; if it is necessary to clean the filter assembly, emitting a visual and/or auditory signal to alert a user to start a filter assembly cleaning program so that the filter assembly is cleaned, and after the visual and/or auditory signal has been emitted for the first time, permitting the washing machine to execute a purified water laundry program a predetermined number of times, the purified water laundry program comprising using the filter assembly to perform a circulating water filtration stage for circulating and filtering on water in a washing drum of the washing machine. In the present invention, when it is determined that it is necessary to clean the filter assembly, the user is permitted to perform the purified water laundry program the predetermined number of times without the filter assembly being cleaned so that the user may continue to use the purified water laundry program when the user lacks a cleaning agent or temporarily does not wish to clean the filter assembly, thereby providing a better user experience. |
