The invention relates to a surge arrester (1) with a preassembled active part (20) which has a discharge column (7), which is arranged in a rigid tubular housing (2) that extends along a longitudinal axis (40), and which is clamped between two flanges (5, 6) that close the housing (2) at the end faces in order to generate an axial contact force. According to the invention, the preassembled active part (20) has an upper and a lower holding plate (8, 9) which lie on an upper and lower end face, respectively, of the discharge column and between which the discharge column (7) extends. Each holding plate (8, 9) has at least two cams (16). The discharge column (7) is held together axially and radially supported by at least two elastic clamping straps (10), wherein each clamping strap (10) is clamped between a cam (16) of the upper holding plate (8) and a corresponding cam (16) of the lower holding plate (9). |
