PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage apparatus capable of preventing the depletion of a physical volume that is not used yet.SOLUTION: A group management section 101 manages a first group to which first storage mediums that store data belong and a second group to which second storage mediums that do not store data out of the storage mediums. A data management section 141 sets an area of each first storage medium in which to-be-update data is stored as an invalid area, and stores update data in the first storage medium. A determination section 105 determines whether a set of first storage mediums the magnitude of the total invalid areas of which is not smaller than the capacity of one storage medium is present. A reorganization processing unit 142 transfers the data stored in areas of the set of the first storage mediums other than the invalid areas thereof to the second storage mediums if the magnitude of the total invalid areas is not smaller than the capacity of one storage medium. A volume management section 112 moves the group to which the first storage mediums for which the transfer is completed from the first group to the second group.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
