An electronic device, an accessory device, and a method of authenticating an accessory device are provided. According to various embodiments of the present invention, the electronic device may comprise: a detection sensor detecting connection of the accessory device; an RF module transmitting and receiving a radio signal; and a processor which controls to transmit an authentication request signal through the RF module when the connection of the accessory device is detected, and performs an authentication with the accessory device when an authentication request response signal is received from the accessory device. In addition, various other embodiments are possible. The purpose of the present invention is to enable authentication between an electronic device and an accessory device in a radio communication system without physical connection.
