The method for constructing a wall with upper and lower beams and studs extending vertically between the beams and a wall panel secured to the beams and stud 50. The method includes providing uniform length studs, beams, securing the studs between the beams and securing a wall panel to the two beams and studs. The beams are formed from an elongate metal sheet folded through a right angle about at least one longitudinally extending line. The beam defines vertical 121 and horizontal 123 plates and has a number of pre fitted L or U shaped brackets 124 that are permanently secured to at least one of the plates. The studs are fixed to the beams using the brackets. Also claimed is the beam and a building using the beam. The beam may be include a horizontal plate with a downwardly bent return for fitting over the edge of a foundation wall. |
