PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a honeycomb filter composed of a cordierite substrate which is suppressed in formation of gaps between a mesh sealing part and a partition wall owing to reduction of the volume of the mesh sealing material through shrinkage produced in drying and baking the mesh sealing material and has a good PM collection rate, good binding strength between the partition wall and the mesh sealing part and stability of the length of the mesh sealing part.SOLUTION: A method of producing a cordierite-based ceramic honeycomb filter comprises mesh-sealing specified passages of a ceramic honeycomb structure composed of a cordierite substrate with a mesh sealing slurry and baking, and the mesh sealing slurry consists of a ceramic raw material comprising a cordierite blend raw material blended in such a way as to form cordierite after baking and a preliminarily baked cordierite baked powder. The cordierite baked powder has a sphericity of 0.5 or higher and an average particle size of 70-230 μm and is contained in the ceramic raw material in a mass ratio of 30-70%. |
