The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an aluminium alloy thick plate and an aluminium alloy thick plate with high productivity, good controllability of surface condition and flatness, and improved accuracy of plate thickness. In the method, a melting step (S1) for melting an aluminium alloy containing Mn in a predetermined amount, at least one of Si, Fe, Cu, Mg, Cr, Zn and Ti in an predetermined amount, and Al and inevitable impurities as the remainder, a hydrogen gas removal step (S2) for removing hydrogen gas from the aluminium alloy melted in the melting step (S1), a filtration step (S3) for removing mediators from the aluminium alloy from which hydrogen gas has been removed, a casting step (S4) for casting the aluminium alloy from which the mediators have been removed to produce a slab, and a slicing step (S6) for slicing the slab into a predetermined thickness are carried out in the order stated. |
