A flame retardant polymeric foam and its manufacturing method are provided. The flame retardant polymeric foam comprises a polymeric foam and one or more layers of organic flame retardant applied to the surface of the polymeric foam. The flame retardant polymeric foam is obtained by spraying, coating melted organic flame retardant on the surface of the polymeric foam or by impregnating the polymeric foam in the melted organic flame retardant. The present disclosure provides a simple and effective approach to increase amount of flame retardants, thus increasing the flame retardancy of the resulting polymeric foam without adversely affecting its foaming, strength, or insulation properties. By simply varying the amount of flame retardant on the surface of the polymeric foam, different flame retardant requirements can be satisfied. |
